Oud-Zuid is one of the most beautiful and wealthy neighborhoods in Amsterdam and is part of stadsdeel Zuid. The neighborhood is located south of the Vondelpark. You will recognize the neighborhood by its wide avenues, monumental buildings, good restaurants, cozy cafes, special boutiques and famous museums. Living in Oud-Zuid is therefore a dream for many. The highlights of the neighborhood are: the Vondelpark, the P. C. Hooftstraat with all its luxury stores, the Olympic stadium that is still in use, the Concertgebouw where concerts are regularly held and of course the world famous Rijksmuseum. CAFÉ GARÇON

Two French friends opened bistro Café Garçon on Johannes Verhulst Street in 2022. Café Garçon serves French classics and contemporary dishes and snacks with a French twist. Café Garçon aims to share the love of French cuisine and culture with local residents.  

You can go for lunch, drinks and dinner. For lunch you have an omelette and sandwiched toasts, baguettes and brioches. For dinner you have classic French dishes, such as: French onion soup with Gruyère croûton, escargots in homemade herb butter and moules frites. Contemporary dishes and snacks with a French twist include: threaded meat croquettes with Dijon mustard and grilled green asparagus with Parmesan cheese crunch, hollandaise sauce, poached egg and black truffle.

The menu and the interior form a harmonious interplay. Thus, the interior feels like a French bistro, which then also consists of antique tiles, characteristic lamps and wooden furniture. 

JULES AND JULIETTE

Jules and Juliette are two catering businesses that form a duo on Valeriusplein. At Juliette you can go for breakfast and lunch and at Jules you can end the evening with dinner or drinks. The cuisine is Mediterranean with a shared-dining concept.

For breakfast at Juliette's you can choose from croissants, yogurt with granola and fresh fruit and sourdough with smashed avocado or scrambled eggs Parmesan. For lunch you can order a variety of sandwiches and salads and for dinner you can choose from sirloin steak, sea bass fillet, bimi and caramelized carrot from the oven, among others. As icing on the cake, Jules and Juliette make the bread themselves in the production kitchen below the restaurant, even making the dough themselves!

The interior reflects the focus on Southern Europe. Thus, there is a lot of wood incorporated into the interior and the color palette consists of: beige, turquoise and blue. Celebrating a party? Juliette can also be rented out for private events.

SIMPLY FISH

Simply Fish is located on the Koninginneweg in Old South. Living up to its name, the restaurant specializes in fish, seafood and shellfish. The fresh products come from the Oosterschelde and are caught sustainably and line caught whenever possible. The successful formula originated in the port of Goes, Zeeland, and moved to Amsterdam several years ago.

You can go to Simply Fish for lunch and dinner. You have many choices from sushi lobster and mango to pasta vongole and sole. Simply Fish has also thought of the meat lovers. You can order steak tartare or Tournedos Black Angus. There is also an extensive wine list compiled with wines from a variety of countries around the world. Finally, there are delicious desserts to finish with, including à la minute prepared madeleines or a dame blanche.

Upon entering, you stumble upon the marble bar and the high ceilings catch your eye immediately.
The interior is modern and has a warm and cozy feel. The tables are made of marble and the chairs of velvet. A real eye-catcher is the tiled wall with the design of a fish on it.

CAFÉ SOUTH

Café Zuid, like Simply Fish, is located on the Koninginneweg. The cuisine is, as they say, French bistro style with a shared dining concept. The menu is internationally oriented and seasonal. Fresh and local produce is used, with fresh vegetables and herbs, the finest meats and breads coming straight from the land.

For lunch, you can choose from an American pancake, croissants and rich sandwiches, such as: smoked salmon and oyster mushroom. For dinner you have a variety of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes. For example, as vegetarian dishes you have gnocci with truffle cream sauce and Parmesan and as meat and fish dishes: smash burger and sea bass. For drinks, delicious bites can be ordered, including: nachos and shrimp croquettes.

Café Zuid is versatile; not only are you welcome for lunch, drinks and dinner, but there is also the possibility to rent a space for a party or meeting. You can even take a cocktail workshop there! The restaurant feels warm and cozy. When you enter, you immediately notice the tiled bar with large wicker lamps above it.
