Neighborhood specialist Danique on the leuskte restaurants in De Pijp

The Pipe

De Pijp is one of the liveliest and hippest neighborhoods in Amsterdam and is part of district Amsterdam Zuid. The neighborhood lies between the Ceintuurbaan, the Amstel, the Boerenwetering, the Singelgracht and the Amstel Canal. De Pijp is divided into the Diamantbuurt, Nieuwe Pijp and Oude Pijp. You will recognize the neighborhood by its narrow, cozy streets with nice boutiques and various cozy places to eat & drink.

The coziest hotspots eating & drinking places in De Pijp

Bar Bellini

Owners of Brasserie Lolita opened on March 15, 2023 diagonally opposite: Bar Bellini on Ferdinand Bolstraat in the heart of Amsterdam's Pijp district. Bar Bellini is Italian-oriented. The bar lives up to its name and therefore serves Bellini cocktails as an aperitif. This is an Italian cocktail of prosecco and peach puree that originated in Venice.

The concept of the menu is shared dining. So the menu is also composed of ten small dishes that are great for sharing, but can also be served as courses. Dishes on the menu include: fried artichoke, linguine with langoustine sauce and quail from the barbecue. They also serve delicious desserts, including the classic tiramisu and panna cotta. At Bar Bellini you can go not only for dinner, but also for lunch and late night drinks where you can even dance until the late hours.

The interior of Bar Bellini has a cozy feel and gives retro vibes in a modern twist. Fun fact; the orange hue used in the interior hints at the color of the classic Bellini cocktail. The large open kitchen is a real eye-catcher and is located in the middle of the restaurant. This is also where guests can eat, being served by the cooks cooking behind it.

At Bar Bellini, they encourage dropping by on the spur of the moment for a cozy bite or drink. Thus, reservations are only possible for a few tables.

La Nostra Gigí

Italian shared dining restaurants are impossible to imagine without, and La Nostra Gigi on Marie Heinekenplein is one of them. Gigí, also called the prettiest girl in the Pijp is a colorful and extravagant trattoria, cocktail bar and lounge all in one.

Chef Richard Way prepares a variety of Italian shared dining dishes from oysters, pizza, bruschetta and calamari fritti to antipasti, fish, meat and vegetarian dishes. There are also plenty of delicious dessert choices, such as: scroppino and tiramisu. As icing on the cake, Best Bartender 2022 Stefan Sumual has curated a sophisticated cocktail menu and there is live music with changing musicians every Sunday.

Creative director and interior designer Will Erens of Too Many Agencies, together with owner Van Roekel and furniture company Goesten & Goesten, is responsible for the extravagant interior of La Nostra Gigí. Erens opted for a romantic and opulent character at Gigí, which expresses itself in a surprisingly colorful and extravagant interior. The cocktail bar, lounge and trattoria feature cozy seating interspersed with mirrors, gloss, green arbors and lots of color.

Zero Zero

In 2022, Italian sandwich store Zero Zero opened its doors on Nieuwe Spiegelstraat. Zero zero refers to Italian 00 flour. With that super-fine flour you can make the most delicious pizza and pasta dough, as well as schiaccata. Schiaccata are topped or stuffed focaccias from Tuscany, which is Zero Zero's specialty.

Zero Zero tops the schiaccatas with meat, such as with capocollo or porcheta, but there are also plenty of vegetarian options available. For example, a vegetarian option is topped with grilled eggplant or tomatoes and pesto. The schiaccatas are topped off with a touch of olive oil and salt.

You can take the schiaccata and eat it on the go, but there is also the option to linger and eat your sandwich in the cozy interior while enjoying a cup of coffee or fresh tiramisu. The walls are full of art. Artists every other neighborhood get the chance to exhibit at Zero Zero, nodding to the famous Spiegelkwartier in which Zero Zero is located.

Caffé Pico

Caffé Pico has only just opened, but is already wildly popular. Not surprisingly, since the Italian shared dining restaurant allows you to dance to music in the basement. On Saturday nights, a DJ even spins.

Pico serves a variety of shared dining dishes, including pastas and pizzas. You can also order natural wines and delicious cocktails, such as the spicy paloma. The restaurant has cozy round tables where you can go to enjoy the dishes, but you can also sit at the bar. Once you finish eating, you can go into the basement and have a dance. The basement has a mirrored wall and features orange lights. The restrooms are definitely worth a visit. These are not ordinary, as there is a disco ball hanging and loud music is played.

Neighborhood specialist Danique wanted to dine here on a Thursday night and it was completely full. So advance reservations are definitely recommended!
